Acceptance

By installing the CFA L1 AI Prep Chrome extension or using cfa-l1-prep.com ("the service"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What the service is

An AI-assisted study companion for the Chartered Financial Analyst Level 1 exam. The service provides explanations, a wrong-answer journal, a financial calculator, a formula and ethics reference, and (in paid tiers) score prediction and analytics.

What the service is NOT

• It is not a substitute for the official CFA Institute curriculum.
• It is not an exam-cheating tool. Do not use it during the actual CFA® exam — doing so violates CFA Institute's testing policies.
• It does not guarantee that you will pass any exam.
• It is not affiliated with CFA Institute.

AI-generated content

Explanations are generated by large-language-model systems and may be incorrect, incomplete, or out-of-date with the latest curriculum. You should verify all material that informs an exam answer against the official CFA Institute Standards Handbook and curriculum readings.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service to submit copyrighted question text in a way that violates third-party copyrights;
• Use the service during the CFA exam itself;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, abuse, or overload the service;
• Resell, redistribute, or share Pro/Lifetime accounts.

Accounts

Free use requires no account — your study journal stays on your device. To use Pro features you create an account; sign-in and identity are handled by Clerk, our identity provider. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Optional cloud sync stores a copy of your journal and settings on our servers so you can use them across devices; what we store, and how to delete it, is described in our Privacy Policy.

Subscriptions and refunds

Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as our merchant of record. Paddle handles billing, applicable sales tax/VAT, and your payment details — we never see or store your full card number — and your purchase is also subject to Paddle's buyer terms. Refund requests are handled per the windows below and our Refund Policy.

• Pro Monthly ($19/mo) and Pro Annual ($129/yr): 14-day money-back refund window from initial purchase.
• Lifetime ($99): 7-day money-back refund window from purchase.
• Pro plans renew automatically until canceled. Cancellation stops the next renewal; you retain access through the end of the current paid period.
• We may change pricing for future billing periods with notice; a change never affects a period you have already paid for.

Limitations of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages — including missed exam results — arising from your use of the service.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or abuse the AI explainer. You may stop using the service at any time by uninstalling the extension.

CFA Institute does not endorse, promote, or warrant the accuracy or quality of this product. CFA® and Chartered Financial Analyst® are registered trademarks owned by CFA Institute.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
